Ordered my his majesty the Sultan Of Brunei, Audemars Piguet went about creating a Royal Oak with not only the most amount but the highest quality of stones they had ever incorporated into any such time piece. Confirmation of this can be read in the attached letter by the then CEO of AP. To me the 42 ct of top quality stones pale in significance next to their astounding incorporation into the white gold case. The bezel alone has a 3 layer setting of baguettes while the dials' kaleidoscopic setting of chamfered stones literally puts you in a trance. This is plainly what happened to its initial purchaser with a price tag of £960,000 in the 1990s! It's utter decedents is encapsulated best via its quartz movement, not just so as to create an ultra slim version of the Royal Oak but, & I quote an AP representative here "People order such watches for occasional wear in mind hence they don't really want to bother with setting the time when they do so". Fantastic. I LOVE IT!
