Jorg Hysek took influence from the Nautilus 3700 and the IWC Ingenieur to conceive the 222, created so as to celebrate the 222nd year of Vacheron's continuous production in 1977. It does in fact incorporate Vacheron's auto calibre 1121 movement which was based on the JLC 920 movement used in the Patek and IWC created by Gerald Genta. It is believed that only 100 examples of the 222 model were produced in yellow gold of which but a handful were factory set with diamonds on the bezel, dial & bracelet so to find one in virtually new old stock condition such as this represents a true horological unicorn.
